Engaging Learning: Teaching Marine Pollution Through VR
What are AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality)? Technology in education is undeniably important, with AR and VR being standout tools. VR produces immersive virtual worlds, whereas AR combines digital and real-world aspects. Their primary advantage for language learning is that they provide imaginary or real-world settings; however, expensive equipment and possible technological problems are major disadvantages. Our Task We created VR-integrated teaching material that tackle the global issue of marine pollution. The material designed for high school preparatory class students has 5 steps. In step 1, a 360-degree video is used to introduce marine pollution and give students a unique experience. In step 2, another 360-degree video is used to discuss the causes of marine pollution.
