Introductory Post: Back to Blogging with a New Lesson

  Hello everyone after a nice summer holiday! I am currently in the 3rd grade in the Marmara Elt department and I am progressing with all my strength. I will continue blogging here for another course this year. We remain our adventure with fresh content where we left off, and we must keep up our blog as the online portfolio for the course.

  The name of the course that brought us together here again is Current Issues in Teaching. In this course, pre-service English teacher candidates learn the role and integration of technology in the classroom and developing technology-enriched lesson plans and resources. This course encourages moving away from the traditional, monotonous classroom environment by prioritizing technology and artificial intelligence in education. Blogs are actually a part of this content because we use technology while maintaining this portfolio. We create interaction by sharing our content with our audience online. By the end of this course, I hope to have knowledge about lesson planning and adapting all available technologies to that plan.

  I am going to keep updating my blog with my views on the course and tasks. I will focus on using technology, which is an important part of our lives, with its full potential in all my assignments and writings. I am already sure that it will be very fun and useful. Stay tuned for brand new and updated content!

  We created a teaching material that utilized AI's writing assistance to explore festivals across the globe. For us, this was both a fun and beneficial experience. Unit 6 of the MEB coursebook's intercultural topics  provide the basis for the content, which is intended for EFL high school prep students.    We included AI (ChatGPT) technology into the writing process to make the course more interesting. Students will write well-structured paragraphs about the festivals they selected and the related weather conditions.     Greetings to everyone! I always said that I would come across you with different content. Now I am here again with something else. We had an assignment to prepare a corpus-based teaching material and lesson plan for EFL high school students. With a student-centered approach that incorporates technology into the classroom, we created a course that attempts to help students with their grammar and vocabulary. Actually, we aimed for them to notice the difference between the use of 'many' and 'much', but while doing this, we integrated grammar and vocabulary knowledge because they also needed to know the words they are used together.    How did the process work?     We chose to teach the use of 'many' and 'much' quantifiers from the "Party" unit in the coursebook by MEB for preparatory students. Chatting with the Valuable Philosopher Socrates about the Socratic Method thanks to Magic School AI !

  Hello again. I am here with the last task of the term. It was the task of chatting through Magic School AI with a historical figure of our choice about a topic we were curious about.  Then, we were asked to write a report about the interview and revise the report using AI feedback. I made Socrates my chatmate and satisfied my curiosity about Socratic questioning. It was an interesting experience because even though I knew that the person speaking in front of me was artificial intelligence, it really felt like Socrates had come to life.
